World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading
Upgrades can boost the value of weapons, armors and rings. Upgrades also boost bonuses like Crit chance and damage from PvE.
For example an item with the upgrade template that ends in % will suffer an attack damage of 3% each time it is upgraded (relative to its previous value).
The cost of upgrading an item is determined by the item's level. The cost increases as the item level rises.
Components
Upgrade components are items that can be put into armor, weapons and trinkets in order to provide an extra stat boost or effect while they're in use. These can be obtained through crafting, purchasing from vendors trading, or looting. Certain upgrades also come with specific cosmetic effects.
Upgrade components are only available to devices that have slots. The item must be at least upgraded to blue before a component can be applied. Upgrade components, unlike other modifications, can only be applied only once. They are not able to be replaced or applied multiple times. Infusions and Enrichments are a kind of upgrade component used to upgrade non-amulet legendary or ascended equipment, as well as some non-ascended items. Enrichments and Infusions can be obtained by salvaging equipment that is ascended or by completing a mission within the Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall campaigns.
An upgrade could include a suffix or prefix that alters the name of the equipment to which it is used (for examplefor example "Canthan Armor Insignia' becomes Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor). These points can be used for leveling up an item. Once enough points are earned you will be able to claim your upgrade and get its extra bonuses.
When the player upgrades a piece of equipment the original item is replaced by a new item. The same armor will receive an weapon or shield when upgraded. The new item also has its own set of bonuses. This could be a disadvantage since the item may become more expensive even if you don't need it.
If the player has enough tokens, they can roll the upgrade of their item. This will cause the item to be traded for a new one, with an initial level and a different set of bonuses. This can be beneficial, but shouldn't be done often as it can be a waste of resources.
Certain upgrades can be rerolled many times to increase their value, allows the player to modify their gear. Dolphin's Gift is a good example, since it grants a buff if the player is repeatedly in or exits the water. This item can be upgraded many times and increases the maximum roll every time by 10 increments. Requirements
